Saying Goodbye to a Lifelong Friend

All of us at VASEY are mourning the loss of our fellow team member and friend, Michael Smith.

Mike died in a vehicle accident in Hendricks County on Friday. He recently turned 65, had worked with VASEY team off and on for more than 25 years, and planned to retire at the end of this year to spend more time with his family.

He was an Installer in our Project Department, and if you ever had the opportunity to work with him, you already know about his dedication to both a job well done and to the people within our company and at our clients. You’re familiar with his warm smile and friendly manner.

What you may not know about Mike was his lifetime devotion to serving others. He enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War before coming home and serving his town’s volunteer fire department for three decades, including many years as its chief. He was also elected to his town’s council and served a term as its president.

Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to Mike’s wife of 37 years, Pam; his children, Racheal and Shawn; their spouses; and Mike’s five grandchildren, Cauy, Erin, Trace, Claire, and Max. More information about Mike’s arrangements and memorial contributions may be found here.

We are honored to have known and worked with Mike, and we miss him. May his legacy of friendship, dedication to quality, and devotion to his family, community, and nation inspire us all to do and be our best every day.
